HEW undertakes the promotion and implication of the following projects:

Education

• Organize community campaigns to raise awareness of the nature, environment and related problems affecting human life in Afghanistan.
• Publish a quarterly newsletter on the issues related to ecosystem, nature conservation and environment in Afghanistan.
• Raise awareness of the problems Afghanistan faces in nature conservation and environmental degradation at international conventions and conferences.

Research

• Create a database on issues related to environmental, ecosystem and nature conservation pertaining in Afghanistan.
• Encourage interdisciplinary research programs, along with long-term environmental monitoring that is critical in establishing a baseline scientific information system on the sensitive mountain ecosystems, communities and the rapid changes occurring in these arenas in Afghanistan.

Action with Nature

• Encourage local involvement in the management of their natural resources
• Co-ordinate province-wide and national-wide efforts in the management of natural resources and nature conservation.
• Help the communities in identifying environmental priorities and to create "Environmental Community Action Plans". Co-operate with any program designed to help the nature conservation or address environmental problems in Afghanistan.
