Farhad Azad was born in Kabul, Afghanistan and moved to the US at a young age. In 1997, Azad created afghanmagazine.com to bring awareness to the arts and culture of the Afghan people. Along with publishing afghanmagazine.com, he is actively involved in promoting the work of Afghan artists, writers and musicians.

Roya Aziz was born in Kabul, Afghanistan in 1979. She is based in Kabul working in media and communications. In her spare time, she works as a freelance reporter. She has a master’s degrees in journalism from UC Berkeley.

Zaheda Ghani was born in Herat, Afghanistan and left her hometown at the age of four. She and her family moved to India and lived there for five years, before relocating to Sydney Australia in the 1980s. Ghani has a degree in Journalism and currently works for Yahoo! Australia & NZ as a producer. She has been a co-editor of afghanmagazine.com since 1998.

Daud S. Saba was born in Herat, Afghanistan in 1964. He obtained his M.Sc in Economic Geology from Kabul Polytechnic Institute, and obtained his Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from the University of Mumbai, India. His research and work interests have been focused on the geodynamics and mineral resources of the Hindu Kush, natural resources and environmental management, and study of natural history and ecosystems of Afghanistan. His work has been published in both Afghan and international academic, as well as popular media. His recent interest in Afghanistan also included human development and human security issues. He has co-authored two human development reports for Afghanistan, with the NHDR 2004 being officially recognized as the best analysis of a post-conflict country by UN in 2006. In 2000, Saba published the book Gozar Az Tangna in Dari, which is his reflections on socio-political and intellectual situation in modern Afghanistan. Since 2002 he has been working in different capacities inside Afghanistan, while calling Little Rock, Arkansas as his home.

Mir Hekmatullah Sadat is a senior writer. Sadat’s research interests are in Afghan culture, political, economics, and history. His works create a united patriotic sentiment around a renewed Afghan identity. Sadat has presented in various conferences and his articles have been published in numerous magazines throughout Europe and North America. He has taught on Afghanistan and Pakistan at Pitzer College. Sadat’s studies in Economics led him to be awarded a BA from the University of California, Irvine and a MA the California State University, Fullerton and a PhD at Claremont Graduate University. He currently teaches at George Washington University.

Mizgon Zahir is a freelance journalist and former publisher of Afghan Journal. Mizgon has been reporting on the Afghan-American community for over 10-years with publications in the San Francisco Chronicle, New York Times and the New America Media Newswire. Mizgon attended Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism for her M.S. in Journalism.
